Need Help With Kindle FireHD VS Kobo Arc

I am looking at the kindle fire hd for $199 and the Kobo Arc tablet 16gb for $199/32GB $249

I am mainly looking for something that mainly allows me to read but would like to have the ability to browse the web and play games and other things so I am looking at these two instead of e-readers.

Does anyone have experience with these and advise which one is better? I am mainly looking for a decent battery life, large bookstore, good screen for long reading and a decent browsing experience.

I am leaning towards the kobo arc since with the Kindle fire I can only buy books from Amazon and I cant use all the services if I am out of the country.

I have also read that kindle books will not work on the Kobo e-reader due to the format but will they work on the Kobo Arc with kindle for android app, and would they be available out of the country?

Any advice would be appreciated

Nexus 7.

Dunno what the kobo is; which, in the world of android tablets, is a very very very bad thing.

Is there any specific reason you're not including the Nexus 7? Seems like all of the perks of the Arc are in the Nexus 7, but the Nexus 7 has a much more powerful processor. The Arc is a bit lighter which would be good for reading though.

I have checked the Nexus7 and it looks really good but it is a little out of my price range since I am looking at the Kobo Arc and Kindle FireHD because both are $199

As well for the Nexus 7 will it read kindle books with the kindle app and will those books be accessible outside the country?

Yes, Kindle app reads Kindle books.
I've never left the country, so dunno. I assume anything you've downloaded should work.

Nexus 7 without a doubt. I had a Kindle fire rooted with a custom launched and it worked great. I just recently got a nexus 7 and the stock Android experience blows the Kindle fire out of the water.

Btw do not waste your time with an unknown android device.

No problems with reading Kindle books on mine while flying or for 2 weeks in France with wi-fi completely turned off.

Not sure what you looked at but the nexus 7 is the same price as the Arc. 200 for 16gig or 250 for 32

Is also a stock android device so anything the Arc did the nexus will do.

Alright I checked the Nexus 7 and it looks really good

And I forgot to add that this will be a gift for someone in Canada and I might get one later. The main problem I am having choosing one is making sure its open and not restricted

I know that there is the kindle for android app available and would work on the Nexus 7 in the US but would it work in Canada since I have heard that the ebooks from Amazon aren't available in Canada due to some kind of copyright issues
