hey, what's up? I have this huge case to do for finance and part of it is constructing a portfolio for this company I am consulting for. I have 2.5 million to work with but the portfolio must be liquid and secure. Nothing extra risky. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

wait a minute...aren't stocks more liquid than T-Bills and bonds? you can usually convert them to cash faster than a bond.

Also, how are you being graded? Return? Liquidity?

Liquid, secure indicate a current asset thinking that would/could be used to augment cash flow in a timely manner. I'd break it into very short term vehicles with some in money market. I'd make that decision based on my analysis of the balance sheet and historical trends regarding days sales in AR how aged is AP etc. Look at the next quarter production expectation and how critically close your cash flow will become. If you're real sure cash is ok then opt some of the portfolio to higher yield bonds. But, this type of analysis becomes axiomatic based on the F/S analysis.. let that drive your decision and justify your action with the analysis.
