While my frend and I were experimenting with an ide cable[moving the plastic head pieces specificall] we broke the cable and need a new one. It was ata 66 and we need a replacement. What I want to know is if this is an ata66 cable or if I need a different one. Here

The link you gave didn't work for me. make sure that whatever cable you get says ATA-66 and has 80 conductors goining into a 40 pin header.

Ok sorry it is from outpost.com and the sku# is 64848. It doesn't specifically say ata66 and I am having doubts. It is only $4 with free shipping so its no big deal. An ata 66 hd should work on any 40 pin ide cable right?

Yes, an ATA 66 hard drive will work with a normal hard drive cable but will only function in ATA 33 mode.

I found the cable, it is a 40 conductor cable meaning that it is not ATA 66.
