Need help with IBM 600e upgrading

Well, the hard drive on my 600e (type 2645-4BU) failed today. it was the 10.8gb (i think) travelstar, and now im in the market for a new one.

Looked on the IBM website and google, none of which were any help here..

What's the max drive size and speed supported ? Is there any way I could slap a 5400 or 7200rpm 60gb drive in there without any problems?

Also, might as well do a memory upgrade while I'm at it, because XP doesnt like just 128mb.. Would it be possible to buy a 256mb chip to replace one of the 64mb chips with (giving me a total of 320mb - 1x64 + 1x256), or does the BIOS not recognize 256mb on a single chip?

And is the max supported memory 288mb or 512? i've read different articles that contradict each other on that one

Any help would be awesome! Thanks!

In your shoes I would just get another cheap drive from ebay. The value of the 600e is not really worth the upgrades. A 600x would be a different story.
Look on ebay for some later models at a great price if you want more performance.
