I"ve got an AMD 3200+ with a gig of HyperX DDR500 Ram on an ABit NF7-S
At 200*11 (stock speed) the system won't boot with the memory any higher that 400mhz. I've tried both 3/4 and 4/5 and the system won't boot at either setting. I can underclock the CPU FSB to 166*12.5 and squeeze 444 mhz with a 4:3 ratio. You would think that at 200mhz FSB with 4:3 ratio I would be OK since I'm running the CPU within spec and the memory actually under rated speed.
Any ideas as to why I can't achieve higher than 400mhz on my memory running at 200FSB?
Also, is there more benefit to the faster FSB or the higher memory bandwidth (166 fsb with 450 mhz memory speed or 200 fsb with 400 mhz memory speed)
I guess it turned out to be more of a clocking question rather than an overclocking question!!
