Hi,
I have a friends hp pavilion 6535. I did fdisk and then reformated and put a new version of win 98se. All worked good but I can not find anywhere to get the modem, sound and disply drivers. The reason I did it was because there son had gone in to windows and deleted some of the files. And it would not work at all. And they can not find the recovery disks, they are not even sure if they ever got them. Could anyone help?
Thank you

Welcome to the Forums :) This HP uses the Intel i810 chipset with onboard video.

1) download and install this chipset driver package, then reboot

2) download and install this video driver and reboot again

3) go here and click the Download now button on step 3 to get the modem driver.

4) for the sound driver, I think the chipset driver package in my first step may contain it.

Bigger picture: it is important to get the computer secure. A software firewall such as free ZoneAlarm, plus an antivirus software such as Grisoft AVG Free Edition, would be a good start. Also see if you can still update the computer at the Windows Update site. I'm not sure if they support it anymore. When you do get the computer online, would you let me know if Windows Update still works for Windows98SE once you find out? :)

You might also want to install Spybot Search & Destroy anti-spyware and immunize the computer to help it resist spyware, but it will also need some cooperation from the users to not fall for every piece of bait that the spyware is hiding inside of.

Hope that helps :)
