I have @home and I cant get it to work on one of my PCs. I have 2 computers and one of them refuses to connect to the internet. Both systems are running XP Pro but one works and one doesnt. I put my computer name and "@home" as the work group and one PC works fine and the other doesnt. The one that isnt working shows an IP address and all but when I go to use IE it wont find any websites. What gives? Any ideas?
thanks,
-doug

How are your cable connections setup? Do u have cable modem -> hub/switch -> 2 PCs? How many IPs does @home give you?

Did u setup both machines to use DHCP?

None of the above...I just plugged the one PC directly into the cable modem because I wanted to make sure it worked. But it didnt. Both computer names and workgroups are the same in both computers, but one computer connects to the net and the other one doesnt. Any ideas?
thanks,
-doug

I dont think you should be typing in @home as the work group. I have @home also and the only place I see the @home symbol come up is on the IE @home home page. Try "@attbi".

It doesn't matter what workgroup your computer belongs too. You should make sure your network card is set up to DHCP. @home authenticates you with computer name, so you have to specify same computer name on new computer as on the other one.

That's kinda protection they use, so you won't connet two computers at the same time (they have to have different names or it won't work). There is workaround though - you can use 2 network cards in one of them. Search in forum (or in Google) for internet connection sharing.

I did put the right computer name. I have set up computers on it before. I have had 3 computers since I got @home and they have all taken turns on the internet. The settings on this computer(the one currently setup on @home) is the same as the settings on the other. But one works and one doesnt. Im looking for less conventional answers to this problem. I have explored the simple ones already.
thanks,
-doug

My PC doesn't need any configuration for @home (now comcast.net) to work, except for DHCP. No workgroup or PCs names. If you have the connection and the modem, then it works for me.
dmw16, what IP addresses are your two PCs receiving?
