Background: My company is the US affiliate of a Japanese company. The president (Japanese) rotate every 5 yrs or so. Last week my company gave away 5 computers (most very old) in a lottery for the employees. A coworker won the former president's laptop - only problem is that it has the Japanese version of win95.

My questions are:

1 - The model number on the underside of the laptop is HESP133TS and the p/n is E133TC. I have assumed that this is an "E" series. Does anyone have an idea?

2 - I have found drivers(audio, touchpad, video) on hitachi's website for the e series notebooks. Would these be installed after windows is installed?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm assuming its a hitachi E series P133. Try wiping the hard disk and putting on Win98SE. The drivers in Windows98SE should cover just about all the hardware within the laptop since its so old. If not, I would keep the E series drivers handy for installation after the windows install.

Yea, I planned on reformatting the hd but had those questions.

It only has 32mb ram. I don't think win98 will work on that will it?

32 MB of Ram should be enough for Win 98 as long as you don't do a lot of applications simultinously.
