Need help with HDD DMA setup

I have a 30GB Maxtor DiamondMax Plus installed with a Promise Ultra 66 card on a P3V4X. For some reason the drive properties does not have the option to enable DMA. My other systems running the same HDD's allow DMA to be enabled. The only difference is they are not using Promise cards. Any suggestions how I can get DMA enabled on this drive? Does it have anything to do with the Promise card?
 
I think I recall reading some time ago that DMA is enabled by default with the Promise and Highpoint cards. I have no DMA box to check for my IBM 75GXP running off my Soyo MB's Highpoint controller and I certainly can't call it slow.
