I have an old set of HK 595's and I believe they died because the fuse blew. Unfortunately I am having problems identifying it.

Here is the FUSE PIC..it s a 250v 1.6amp fuse

Anyways, I bought some fast blow fuses as the Radio Shack guy recommended, but

1) they blow every time i try them (gone through 3 already)
and
2) they do not have that metal bar in the middle and are instead clear..not foggy clear, clear clear.

****According to some advice, that just means the resisting wires are composed of varying materials yet have the same resistance. ie....more modern fuses*****

Thanks

If you replace a fuse and it blow again, there must be something wrong with the circuit, overloaded maybe. No point keep changing the fuse without rectify the problem.

But is there a difference between those fuses that I should have immediately experienced? Basically does it matter which fuse I chose [within spec of course] if there is not a surge of power to blow it?

If so that probably asure me that there is something wrong with the internals of the [built in subwoofer] amp.

The slow blow fuses are designed to take short current peaks above their rating. If the overcurrent doesn't stop very quickly, the fuse blows. The system was designed with a slo blo, so try a slo blo. If it doesn't work out, then there is a problem with the electronics.
