I currently use my iPod headphones and was ok with it until I realized that once I held my earphones in a bit I was getting some very nice sound. Now I have gone around the web and just now saw a deal in the HD forum about Shure headphones and the E2 headphones are $69 no tax and shipping. I am tight on cash but am thinking about these, so I wanted to ask how much abuse can these go through? I usually have my earphones rolld around fist than tuck it in my pocket (not the tight jeans pocket but a regular pant pocket but a little more roomy i guess.)

tight on cash... get a pair of sony EX51's (~$25). have a pair of sennheiser MX400. better than stock apple's, but it doesn't cut the cheese compared to my old sony MDR-888 ($50). people have said the sennheiser MX500 (~$20) is supposed to be better so you can check those out.

MX400 was free for me with my senns HD-497 ($40). MX400's are usually $15.

go for the Sony EX51's or the Sharp md-33's. You can find the MD-33's at audiocubes.com by the way.

I'm not sure what your looking for in terms of durability from a set of ear phones, but they can be kept in your pocket or whatever and work fine. Oh and from the two, i'd recommend the sharp's.

You weren't getting nice sound with those POSs, trust me.

Anyway I treat my Shure e2cs well, but would assume from looking at & feeling their construction that they could put up with some abuse. Keep in mind it'll be difficult to hear outside noise with them, especially with music playing. This is by design, but isn't suitable for all applications.

Abuse?

Yesterday morning, I stepped on my Shure E2c's while standing up. Hard. There's now a crack in the right earpiece, but it still plays flawlessly. They're tough suckers.

Sharp's for the price I have them and they rock; Shure's are good also from what I heard but are not in the same budget

the sony's are pretty nice I had a pair until I lost it...but I've got a pair of ex81's and they're pretty good as well for the price. They're both isolating earbuds.

Ordered the Shure E2's they seemed cheaper at $69 with free ship and no tax compared to most other suggestions.

As he said, e2c's can take abuse like that without fully breaking. And as I said, they'll replace em for a nominal fee ($25? I think).
