49 yrs old, next Monday what should I get him? He doesn't drink...I really have no clue I was thinking something electronics wise I'm willing to spend up to like $200 or so.

Is he a techie-guy? I.E. a geek? You could get him a nifty gadget of some type. $200 is a nice budget and leaves lots of room for ideas. 🙂

Does he like listening to music, you could get a nice mp3 player, even the iPod Mini if that floats your boat.

Mmm...I don't think he'd utilize it. He's not a techie guy. He likes doing gardening style stuff but ordering a palm or something might be a little too extreme without prior notice...Ya he definetly enjoys classical music or like Edith Piath or Charlotte Church style music but he gets those cds every year...time for a change...

1. You haven't given us enough info so everyone is pretty much guessing.

2. hopefully the general consensus is that

A) You get him an AMEX travelers check or something
b) You go with him and make a day out of it.

At that age, the lure and fufillment of material pocessions pales comsiderably to a sons respect, love, admiration, and most importantly, attention.

Widowed not dating.

Does he like birds or any type of outdoor stuff? My step-father really likes nature typed things like birdhouses as does my grandfather. Both are older than your father, but it is something they really enjoy. If that's not his bag, then I've always found some type of tool or gift cert to Home Depot/Lowe's can make any male happy. If none of those apply either, then perhaps some cologne, DVDs, books on a topic(s) he likes, or even gift certificates for days with his son + dinner or something.
