im looking toget a new monitor,17" flat screen (not flat panel aka lcd). what is a good monitor that can hopefully get 1600x1200 (i think thats what it was, or something similiar). the reason i want this is to take advantage of the radeon 9700 pro :D

im looking to spend around 400$ canadian.

You might look for one of these Samsungs. I've never tried one, but what I was looking for is a flat-tube 17" that can display 1600 x 1200 at a reasonable refresh rate. Since this 17" supports 1920 x 1440 at 64Hz, hopefully it can manage 1600 x 1200 at, say, 80Hz or more.

Viewsonic has a 17" that can do 1600 x 1200 at 77Hz but that might still have noticable flicker. Anyway, hope that's some help :)

Yo, Turkey, you're back! ;)

If you really want to exercise that 9700, check out these off-lease 21 inchers for CND 329.

Or, since the 9700 can handle it, a pair of 19s and live large.

I have been pulling some of the dell 21's on a PC renewal and let me tell you, about 90% are piss poor looking, bad focus, uncorrectable brightness, screen burn. not a monitor I would trust
