I've read all the reviews and checked out a lot of stuff. I am getting an e6600 and 2GB of RAM (probably Crucial Ballixtix DDR2-800). I plan to o/c but only to really try and hit around 3ghz (nothing extreme). It's also for gaming and I want something really stable. SLI, Crossfire don't matter.

I've narrowed it down to the Intel 975X chipset and was looking at the Asus and Intel boards.

First was the BX2 from Intel, however I heard that when trying to o/c if you go too far or set something wrong, you have to physically reset the board or it won't post. That's really annoying if its true and I don't know if that's still the case.

Next is the P5W DH. I've used Asus in the past and have had good experiences.

Anyone have any input to sway me one way or another?

i was in the same situation as you are, except i was deciding between that asus and the evga 680i. i went with the asus, and am loving it. very easy to setup. i flashed the bios to the newest version, and it flys. I havent tried OCing yet, but from the looks of it it seams really easy and self explainitary. I noticed on mine that i can push the fsb to 550. the multiplier is locked at 9, but still thats almost 5ghz =) Obviously thats exaggerating, but at lower speeds like you were talking about (3hz) it would be great i imagine. I am going to hold off and make sure all my parts are stable for a month or so beforei start to overclock, so i can take use of any warrenties. the ram i am using is Crucial ballistix just like you, except mine is rated at 1ghz. It is very easy to change the ram speed too. (or the fsb to dram ratio)

Also- the built in wifi works great, and although the remote is silly, it is sorta useful to turn it on if you have a case w/ a door, and dont feel like opening it.(not to name names...)

cool, thanks a lot guys. I've always liked Asus in the past, plus this is cheaper than the Intel board. I just can't believe the RAM prices, oh well.
