Need help with editing registry

I need to try and cleanup my registry. It's been 1 year since I did a fresh install, but I do not want to do that if I don't absolutely have to. I'd rather first try and just clean up the registry to improve performance.
What are some good programs to do this and any things I should look out for?

Registry editing is the last thing you should be doing; a large registry just doesn't doesn't inherently cause slowness. The first thing you should be doing disabling/removing background programs that you don't need.
