Well, my DSL company wanted to charge me $150 for the modem and setup, and I told them no, I'd do it myself.
I'm at a bit of a dilemma because I have no idea.

Here's what I have
A username and password
DSL Modem (Cisco 675)
Management cable.
Phone line cable
Ethernet cable

Any special things to do?
I mail ordered the modem and it is coming in this week, I have no idea how to approach this thing though.

Please help :)

here is what i do:

run the software (do not hook up anything hardware wise until the software tells you to

read the manual as it steps by steps the install

then hook up all the cables per the manual hooking up the power to the modem last

follow the onscreen instructions after that and enter username and password when prompted

finish the install

if you don't have any problems with the dsl line you should be up and running:)

don't forget that tech support is available if you have any questions/problems and most of the time can walk you through the steps to set it up right :)

good luck and enjoy

The DSL modem should have plenty of info how to set it up. Basically, if your DSL account is a PPPoe type account, you need to install some software on your machine which logs you into the DSL line sort of like dialing-up. More likely you have the regular type account where you need to open up your network settings in your OS and specify your machine's new IP, it's gateway and DNS servers. These would be provided by your ISP if you have such an account.
