Need help with Dragon+ machine (win98)

Hi, I am a novice, I built a machine for myself about 2 weeks ago, but I have several problems: (in order of importance to me)

1) Occassionally, I will get an error that I have run out of memory and everything gets blown away. I "dont have enough memory" to open anything so I have to reboot - fixes the problem. I havent messed with my virtual memory settings and I hear there is some command line I have to put in some sys file because of my large amount of RAM. Any help?

2) The machine just freezes periodically. It can be on bootup or after the machine has been running fine for 6 hours. Most of the time, I am running winamp and some other program. I have been told that I may have an IRQ conflict, and by looking at my settings, I would agree. (see my system properties ) But I can not change the irqs in windows (maybe CMOS?) and they are not reporting a conflict in Device Manager. Any help?

3) My plextor burner is acting weird. It will burn cd-rs (using EZ CD creator 5) just fine, but when trying to burn cdrws it complains that the Kernel is already in use. The firmware is 1.03 and there is a later version (1.04) but when trying to upgrade, it fails...

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
The system is:
Soyo Dragon+ K7V mobo w/ AMD Athlon XP 1600+, 768MB DDR266 (PC2100) CAS 2.5 Crucial Memory, 30Gig Maxtor 7200 HD, 40X/16X/10X REWRITABLE EIDE CD-RW Plextor, and Leadtek Geforce 3 TI 200 (using onboard NIC for ADSL and onboard sound)

The IDE cables are all cabled correctly with all the jumpers in the correct place. I am running Win98SE and do *no* want to go to win XP.

Please help!

first off welcome to AT and don't worry, everyone starts somewhere! As for your first problem, how long has the computer been running when you usually run into an error like this? your second problem I would normally suggest moving either the nic or the sound card, but with on board both... maybe it isn't a irq conflict, have you tried the latest via 4 in 1 drivers? available here just download them and run the program, see if that fixes the problem. as for the third question, I don't really know, but I am sure someone here does! maybe try reinstalling the burning software?

do you have Direct CD running along with EZ CD Creator? If Direct CD is running, disable it before putting in a CD-RW and then open up EZ CD Creator.
