Just got cable net, and was having trouble getting the software installed, something was running in the background, and wouldn't let the software run. I couldn't find it, so I reformatted the drive. I got everything to run ok, except for when i have a window open, and I try to scroll down the page, whether it be with my mouse or the keyboard. It is VERY choppy. I tried turning the smooth scrolling on and off, and tried adjust the bit in the display menu, but to no avail. It worked fine before, but as soon as I reformatted the drive, it started acting weird.

Anyone that can shed some light on this, I would be greatly indebted to.

Thanks ahead of time for all the help,

Gump

*EDIT* Sorry, forgot to put originally, my VC is an ATI Mobility Radeon w/ 32 MB DDR RAM

check your "adapter" in desktop settings, it's probably set to either standard VGA or some 10-year-old ATI rage chipset. Most likely you need to install the mobility drivers by downloading them from the laptop manufacturer's webite.

You may also need to download sound, special-keys, PC card, battery monitor, etc. -- on the Toshiba I set up for a coworker there were about 10 driver installs needed after doing a clean install of Win2000 Pro (instead of using the recovery CD).

Dave,

Thanks alot for the help, that may be it. I was too hasty in going for the clean sweep, and didn't find I had a recovery disk until the hard drive was formatting. I check the website.

Thanks again,

Gump
