I'm very interested in what people have to say about numbers 3 and 4.

I have a monitor but would love to get recommendations on a higher res monitor if it's viable for the rig setup you guys were suggesting

I've got a 1900 by 1200 27.5 inch I'm very happy with for ~ $250 but the guys just about have me talking into trying something with the 2560 by 1440 S-IPS panel in the YAMAKASI CATLEAP.

I'm going to get behind Durvell's build, maybe with a little bigger power supply. I like the HT just in case. The crossfire MB couldn't hurt just in case you want to slap a second card in there. At worst it will be a little extra money wasted on a slot that might not get used.

Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

Now if budget was to become an issue than I highly approve of mfenn's changes.

Were we steering away from nVidia for any reason? I've got ATI stuff but I hear tell that the new nVidia stuff rocks. Crysis 3 in particular was said to play into nVidia's strengths.

I tried to touch up on this in an earlier post. I'm not against nvidia, it's just that i've been using ATI for the last few years and am pretty content with them.

But like i said before; if someone has an nvidia recommendation they want to throw at me I'm more than happy to be open minded about it

Ok I made the purchase! I want to thank everyone on this thread who put in their suggestions and speciual thanks to Durvelle and mfenn for their awesome insight!

One final inquiry about the motherboard.

I decided to go with Durvelle's suggestion http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157293

Is that motherboard have 4 or 6 USB 3.0?

I was thinking it had 4 on the back panel and 2 internally for cases that have 3.0 on the front to hook up for a total of 6 but I wanted to make sure, is that correct?

That's how the specs on Newegg make it out to be. 2 inside + 4 in the rear = 6. That's in addition to a number of USB 2.0 spots.

Let us know if you run into any problems during the build!

So I just ran OCCT GPU only on my system and it pulled 175-180 Watts, or about the same as Metro??

It all completely depends on your driver revision and OCCT version. It's a constant cat and mouse game of AMD/NVIDIA trying to throttle it and the OCCT devs trying to get around the throttling. If you get the same number for both, that's good, it means OCCT is a true load test on your GPU.
