Hi , the guy I purchase this off of says it works fine on XP but I can't seem to get it..
I had to explore the cd to install the drivers.. cause when i pop the cd in and the auto thing comes it , it doesn't show install as it should , it does on windows 98 howerver.. then I got the drivers for windows XP on the creative website , and still it doesn't work , I tried installin the webcam through the little pop up you get when you first plug it in and start up your computer , but It still doesn't work.. does anyone have the same webcam and uses windows XP? please help me on this Thanks!

If you have it unplugged and then plug it in, does the add new hardware wizard come up, does XP show signs that the new device has actually been detected?

Do you have it directly plugged into a USB port or through a hub?

Any other USB devices present?

Jamie

Thanks for the reply , yeah theres a litle wizard that comes up , I tried setting it up through there didn't work..but it detect's it..

i have it pluged in the usb port.. and nope I don't have any other usb devices,,

Are you letting Windows do the install automatically or have you tried browsing to a specific location for the driver or seeing if there is one included with windows XP that you can select from the device list?

I assume it's a built in USB port on the back of the case on the I/O panel of the motherboard, and not a front case one?

In device manager is it coming up with an exclamation mark?

Have you tried plugging it in, cancelling the driver installation and going to windows update? My Webcam didn't have stable 2000 drivers so when I had 2k I used to download a driver from windows update....was for a different webcam but worked fine!

yeah i tried both..

yes its a built in usb port in the back of the case..

yeah there is a exclamation mark..

I haven't tried pluggin it in and going to windows update though.. thanks I'll try that

hmm when i click on it , it says

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.

I installed the drivers though..

Click on reinstall drivers and point it to the directory or CD that contains the correct drivers.

XP will take over from there.

thx , i did this , and it installs and everything , but after it installs it says "Cannot Install This Hardware'
whats weird is it runs perfectly on windows 98 but on xp it doesn't and the guy said it worked on his xp before he sold it to me..he keeps tellin me to figure it out , but i tried on 98 works fine , xp nope..

Single-click on the exclamation line (highlighting it) and hit delete on your keyboard.
Confirm yes and then reboot.

See if it reinstalls the drivers with the exclamation mark again. If so, you'll need to find a different driver.

Try this site to find the drivers -> http://www.americas.creative.com/support/files/xpdrivers.asp

Unless your exact webcam is listed, don't try another similar device. You'll get errors.
