Recently I have noticed my cpu is at 100% usage alot during games and other things I do on my computer. It shouldn't be at 100% I mean I have an amd 64 3000+. Anyways I was trying to figure out why and I looked up the temps of the cpu and at idle they are like 50C then when I am playing a game they spike to about 60C. I think this is too hot so I need a new heatsink. I currently have the stock heatsink and I think it might be going on me.

I have tried reappling the thermal paste but that still gives the same results. If anyone else has any ideas I would greatly apreciate it oh and case temp is 27C.

I ran the prime95 program and was able to get up to 69C and of course 100% cpu usage. I think it might be bad airflow in my case so I am gonna try and move some fans around.

Well I have one fan in the front blowing in to the case and two next to cpu and beneath psu blowing out. There is not much clutter in the air pathway to be honest. I beginning to think that the stock amd fan is just going out and I need a new one.

Check your other temps, there's usually a chipset sensor built into the motherboard along with the CPU sensor. If that's high too, you need to upgrade your case, adding another intake fan would probably be the best.

Either way, a heatsink upgrade is probably the best thing you can do. Check the heatsink review sticky thread at the top of this category.

I keep my 3000+ at 33 °C idle and 45 °C load (at the very max) with an XP-90 and some AS5. I'd rather go with something with a larger fan if I were you though.
