Need help With Converting .AVI To DVD Format (VUB) Why does 170MB .AVI Become 800MB DVD .VUB FILE?

I am converting some avi files to dvd format, but for some reason when converting a 175mb avi file to dvd .vob format it became an 800mb file .. wtf ? what gives here.. advice please.
