Just got a 55inch samsung 4k tv and will use it to view pictures and watch movies from the computer to the tv. I hooked up the hdmi connection and the tv tends to black out quite often and say no signal while the computer still sees the hookup. Im running a intel i5-45XX with 8g of ram. So far it also seems the movies are out of sync o im wondering if I need a video card?

You'll need to post more details. Perhaps the computer is also set to a sleep mode, or tries to turn off the display after 10 minutes? Look into the power options.

Double check the HDMI cable at both ends, making sure it's fully plugged in. May also want to try a dif cable..

"Blacking out" with an HDMI cable is a symptom of a cheap / defective / too long cable.

I gave AmazonBasic's HDMI cable a try and had the same problem. Went back to a Monoprice HDMI cable, no problems.

I think I spent $50 on a better-than-average 25' HDMI cable. Never had the problem described -- or any problem for that matter. It carries the audio and video signals to my HT/AVR-receiver, which passes through to the HDTV.

I'm still wondering if I should experiment with a wireless connection, but the cable runs around the baseboard in the room, and there's nothing really to fix . . .

I Don't use cable TV. I have a Mini-ITX computer right next to the TV with a fairly short about 6 foot HDMI cable connected to the computer and just use Wireless Centrino card connected via WIFI to my wireless router. Works pretty good as long as Microsoft cooperates. I also use a wireless Logitech keyboard.
