the first thing i did when i came here was hooked up my router to the ethernet jack so that registered my mac address to the school. and we are only allowed 1 address until a few weeks from now.
im wondering if its possible for me to somehow get onto the local area network games THROUGH my router or if i can clone my Routers MAC to my network card? i dunno... i just would like to be able to connect to the LAN games through my router if possible.

right now my computer thinks my router IS the LAN. but theres really a bigger lan outside....hmmmm

thanks guys.

Dude, just call your school's computing services people and tell them that you need to switch to a different mac address. You are trying to do this the hard way. You may need to call the sys admins directly, the help desk may not know what you are talking about.

Although I am a little confused why you can't play games through your router. It should work if you are just trying to join games that are hosted elsewhere on the school's network, or on the internet. If you are trying to host the server, then you need to forward the apropriate ports through your router to the host server.
