because when it finishes, it just closes and doesn't let me know of any errors. Also, how do I request a check upon reboot. I'm having a brain fart with this one...

Look in the event log (application log) to see output from the chkdsk command - note the time chkdsk ran and look at that time, or just browse the list; it's there.

To chkdsk upon reboot pull up properties of the drive in Windows Explorer and then go to Tools tab then Error-checking/Check Now button.

(I'm assuming this is your system/boot drive.)

you can do chkdsk /r to do it on reboot with a full scan, or chkdsk /f to make it not read-only on reboot.

I'm lookinging the even log application file and don't see anything about chkdsk results. I only have around a dozen logs total for today and I checked every one. Any other ideas?
