Need help with changing MicroSoft Office file attributes

I have many files in My Documents folder that are marked "read only". I do not remember changing them (it may have occured during a reinstallation of my files from a back up), but I now have a need to update some of these files. Is there a way to unmark the whole folder or do I need to rename each file after I make the updates? I guess I could then delete the original file, and rename the updated file back to the original file name. Any suggestions?

If you open the properties of the My Docs folder, click read only to mark it, then click it again to unmark it, then hit APPLY, it should make ALL files in the folder change to not read only.

If that doesn't work, just open the folder, then highlight all the files and do the same thing. One of those ways will do it.
