I just bought a reciever and some speakers, and have then hooked up through the 1/8th jacks, but I would prefer to have it done through the optical port mostly because of its special interest quality. I tried to set it up, had everything plugged in, but I think the 4 selection panel on the back of the spdif board is wrong, and I cant find an online user manual.

anybody with the manual for the AV-511 (or 512, because the 511 isnt made anymore) who could help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,
Steve

actually you will probably do better using the analog connections as a PC can only output non-dolby/DTS encoded sound in stereo unless these are used. AKA no surround in games unless you use analog. Plus optical is nothing special. Dont' think it is any better than a digital coax or even analog connections. As long as the digital coax or analog cables are shielded. All should sound the same if not better through analog.
