i have a TT tsunami and some wierd mobo that i dont have the manual for, it was a prebuilt from 3 yrs ago. im going to move it to a new case for now untill i get my new system. i was wondering, do you think the power/reset/HDD light cables will he the same color in my case as in the new TT? and if i guess and check do you think it will hurt the mobo? thanks guys

*edit*- my digicamera comes in toamrow so i will take pics and show you waht im tlking about but any ideas now ill be great

Run sandra or everest home edition to get more detailed info on the motherboard, google using this info to find a manual/the info you need. Please proof read your posts and fix your typo's.

I think i read somewhere that it won't damage anything if you plug the connectors in incorrectly. It's up to you...I would first try and figure out what the mobo is and then look for a manual of some sort on the internet.

i think i found the diagram for it but im not gonna mess with anything untill this weekend....no time right now and i will take pics to show you for help. just got my digi camera about 3 hours ago...

PS..no typos 😛

Usually the front panel connectors are marked right on them as to their function. The white or black wire will go to ground (or negative) pin and the colored wire will go to the Positive pin. Couldn't be easier. Of course, I've found some miswired front panel connectors in my time. IAC, you can't put the power up and reset connections on backwards (they are simply momentary contact switches), it's only the LED connectors that can be backwards and they will either work if it's right or not work if backwards - no harm done either way. The speaker may sound a bit better if connected with the correct polarity but not enough to make a difference.

p.s. you can DL the manual for just about any mobo. All you need to know are the make and model which are usually silk-screened right on the mobo itself. Let's not act "resolutely unteachable" here...

Looks like whoever built that put together a custom front panel connector. Most mobos aren't like that at all. But I can see the labels silkscreened on the mobo so there should be no problem hooking up the leads from any normal case.

What was the name/make of the computer the mobo was from? I know I had to seperate connecters from a block to get my HP case to work with a ASUS mobo, but if its the connector bank on the mobo that's the problem, then you would have to rig up some sort of adaptor.

its a asus mobo with a sis651 chipset, its in a sony prebuilt. i cant find the same mobo i have anywhere except for this one place. i think its a specally built mobo for sony. its a rx-850

In the first pic you sent I can see PWR - PLED - RSET and it looks like there might be a 1 to denote pin one duuuh. We aren't really trying to be dense are we???

Just a warning - I have had some problems with connectors after they have been plugged in wrong. I can't say exactly what happened, but I'll never try a guess and check method again. You've got the layout in front of you, so just follow it and don't worry 🙂.
