Hi, I am in my junior year of high school. I get A's across the board without putting it in too much effort. I've never really thought about what type of job I want, but I am going to have to decide eventually.

I really want to do something that I don't mind. My philosphy is that if you have a job that you like, then you will never have to work a day in your life. My hobbies are sports, games, cars, airsoft, conditioning, etc. I know an awful lot about those subjects.

No job seems to appeal to me, although I admit that I haven't given it much thought yet. It would be awesome to develop cars for Honda, review games for EGM, be a personal trainer, or write for the Daily New's sport section; but these jobs are probably near impossible to get.

Money is fairly important. I am looking to start at around $45,000 and make my way up into the 80's at least. Does anybody have some suggestions. What's a cool job that I have a realistic shot at getting. Thanks for the help!

Start by asking those professions what education is required and see if thats something you are willing to do. Also, internships, volunteering, and side jobs will influence your choices. Lastly, try not to worry about it too much. You are only a junior in high school and it seems like you will be going to college. Get involved on campus and see what you like along with taking a varity of courses. Good luck!

develop cars for Honda
Mechanical engineer. Know your math and physics.

personal trainer
you gave some good info in that other post of yours, so it's feasible. Training pro athletes and making some good money. look at agassi's trainer. he knew nothing about tennis when they started working together, but he's training a tennis legend and i'm sure making good money.

I'm in the same position as you, junior, but I've narrowed it down to EE/CE or possibly ME.

Actually, I am more of a car modding guy rather than designing. Math is a strong point though. I am in Honors Pre Calc with an A. I can basically install anything though. I hooked up my brother's Tiburon GT with an Alpine Supercharger, Injen Intake, Hotshot Headers, Borla Exhaust, Boer's Pulley, Concepto Grill, Concepto Lip, Red Tails, Clear Corners, Billet Interior Trim, and NGM Mafterburner Fuel Tuner.

260WHP and drop dead looks. Here are some pics and a video:

if math is a strong point, then look into mechanical engineering, as GML3G0 suggested.

also, it sounds like you have some general subjects you might be interested in... but i would also think about what about those subjects is enjoyable to you, and what characteristics of a job you would dislike. this can lead you to find other careers you might like, and also show you that some jobs would be bad for you (even if they're on a subject you like).

It would help if I knew some of the relative saleries. Are there any websites with this information? About how much does a mechanic or newspaper writer make?

Another big hobby of mine is movies. Just thought I'd mention it. Also, as for intelligence, I am probably above average. I got a 1310 on the PSATs and a 138 IQ on that TV special that was on Fox a while ago.

i don't think you'll have a problem reaching 80k as a mechanical engineer, assuming a decent school.

but i would really take a close look at what makes you like a job and what kind of careers would emphasize that.

if you like school then sports medicine is a good idea. working for a college and/or professional team in a sport of your choice would be a great gig.

i am sure these guys get paid a ton. you have to figure that there are probably another dozen or so strength conditioners, physical trainers, and various assistants, etc. chances are there are internships available for students in minor league organizations and college programs.

at first i was thinking that a top medical colleges would be the place to go but it seems like universities with good sports programs would be another route. you have to figure that the largest budgets for sports medicine would also be the top football schools.
