System ran fine for year and half; removed video card to temporarily use in an XP1800 setup I just put together (runs real sweet). I replaced the video card a week later and booted the system only to have it put out 1 long beep and 3 short ones. System appeared to run normal after booting. I went online to check what the beeps meant but couldn?t find anything specific to my mobo, just the basic either video or ram so I reseated ram, video (did one at a time) with no luck. Checked cpu and reseated same beeps. Changed out 1 dimm and NOTHING!!! No beep no post??? Took out video card no post. Removed motherboard to make sure it wasn?t shorting out on the case, nothing. I thought the mobo was dead. One week later? Put everything back together and guess what, it posts but gives me the 1beep-3 short beeps before the boot up. Is my processor dying or what? I don?t have another mobo to try it out on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First of all Voodoo cards don't work w/ XP. You should get some 3rd party XP voodoo drivers, or even better use a different card. If you want XP voodoo drivers check out www.voodoofiles.com. As for your beeps, every motherboard's beeps mean different than others(well maybe not, like companys like Asus make the same beeps for all motherboards I think). Go to your motherboard's manufactors site and look at the support section. Then select your model, look at the manual to try to figure it out. Good Luck!

the voodoo card works fine in winxp although the tv tuner won't. I,m almost positive it's not the video because the beeps come during the cpu intialization phaze of the bootup process. Also MSI site has almost non-existant tech help with absolutley no help with beep codes. I believe beep codes are more related to bios manufacturer, no?

Anybody else have any input?

this is what i found:
The only AwardBIOS beep code indicates that a video error has occurred and the BIOS cannot initialize the video screen to display any additional information. This beep code consists of a single long beep followed by two short beeps. Any other beeps are probably a RAM (Random Access Memory) problems.
