i have a 16 10 40 plextor rw and need to know if i should use an ata100 cable or doesnt it matter? and can anyone tell me if windows xp is available in beta and where? if it is
and which way does the fdd cable plug in to the drive?

No, don't use the ATA 100 cable with a CDRW. WinXP is I think in RC2 right now. Not ready for prime time but lots are using and many are tesing it. Try the MS site. With most drives the red line on the side of the ribbon cable is the side that goes towards the same side as the power connection. Not a big deal though. If the light on the drive stays on and it doesn't work, shut down and reverse it. No harm=no foul.
