I have installed the Personal Edition of BeOS on my pc and when i try to boot into Be the loading screen comes up and the OS loads alright my monitor then goes into Suspend mode and I hear the Start wave and the monitor goes sleep(power saving mode).
The same thing happens with my Linux Mandrake 7.1. I see the text loading screens and when it tries to go into the gui the monitor goes into suspend then sleep. When i installed linux i made sure i had the right monitor picked cause i don't want to buy a new one, so that isn't the problem.
I have a ATI Rage 128 for a video card if that helps any.

Yeah, I kinda figured you'd already done that, but the only thing I'm good at is covering the obvious.

Hmmm. And the monitor is indicating that it's going into a reduced power mode (with indicator lights, I presume)?

Dang those energy-saving convenience items!

I'll ponder, but mostly I'll hope someone else comes along with a bright idea.

Is there any more descriptive information you can give us that might shake an idea loose?

Regards,
Jim

The little power light by the button turns from green to orange after it flashes a message that says it is going into DMPS Suspend Mode. The monitor is a Delta DC-770 if that helps any.

Well, shucks. DPMS, huh? The typical thing to do at this point would be to check to be sure your BIOS, display card drivers and monitor drivers (if any) are the latest available. Is the BIOS ACPI or APM? There is no separate DPMS setting in the BIOS, is there? If I were in this situation, and if I couldn't find a separate DPMS setting in the BIOS, I would try enabling power management in the BIOS with the highest timing setting just to see what effect it might have. I'd also check the bug lists to be sure my monitor was not on a list of problem devices, and even the card -- though I can't imagine that card would be a problem.

Rats! I'm really running out of ideas. I'll keep trying, but I'm hoping a smarter person comes along to help us!

Jim
