I leave for my honeymoon on Sat morn. I will be going in to B&H today to buy some filters, a camera bag, and maybe the 50mm 1.8 (cant justify the price hike of a 50 1.4)

I need help on choosing a bag. I dont want to spend too much...want to keep it below $100. Around ~$50 would be ideal. The bag needs to hold a XSi, 2 lenses, maybe a S3IS (not too important), and maybe a laptop (again, not necessary).

Also Im looking to buy a circular polarizer and maybe a UV filter. Hoya a good brand? What other filters and accessories should I be looking at?

TIA

I have the lowepro slingshot 200 and love it. It's pretty nice to carry around and have access to your camera without removing your pack.

It's certainly a bit different than your traditional backpack, but is actually pretty comfortable walking around with it.

I have my Nikon D50, 18-55, 55-200 and 50mm lenses plus an SB600 external flash, various small accessories and a number of filters. They all fit in there just fine.

Good luck.

ah nice. that's like a crossover between a backpack and a shoulder bag. I like the apparent ease of access. I'll see if there's something similar at b&h

I have the Kata R-103, which is great for transporting camera equipment and a laptop. It is not convenient for quick access while walking around, however.

b&h has everything, heh.

but I don't like the Lowepro slings because it's on the wrong side for me. I've had the tamrac velocity 7 sling, and loved it, but it can't carry much. and the bigger one is awkward. So I went looking for something more traditional... looked at the domke bags, but so expensive (and nothing local to try).

Ended up w/ a Timbuk2 small messenger bag w/ a Tenba insert. It's turned out to be a bit too small and awkward to use as well.

but I will say the backpack method.. I only use as storage at home or bringing gear to a location. It's just too cumbersome to use on say a hike or something.

Good luck... I recommend taking your gear to the store and actually putting your stuff in the bag to see how you like it.

Good luck. Please post what you end up purchasing.

once again, i got stuck in traffic. Hate the traffic going into the city!! I got there at 1:45 so only had like 15 mins to browse everything. Wanted a backpack that could hold both my laptop and camera gear, but those were much bigger and more expensive. Didnt really have time to look thru all the bags so I ended up just getting the Lowepro Slingshot 200. I liked the ease of access and the size. Also got a Tiffen CPL and UV protector. Didnt really know much about CPLs but the guy there said Tiffens are the cheapest and work just as well...

forgot to get a lens cleaning kit...and the 50mm 1.8 :(
