I have a 486 w/ an award bios v4.50G. I found a bios flash utility that will apparently upgrade it to v5.00. The bios id string is:
12/01/95-UMC-881/886A-2A4X5P64-00
I thinkt hat it's using the UMC 8881E/8886B chipset, but not sure.
I have no idea who the manufacturer is.
I need to upgrade the bios soo i can use a 17gb hard drive in the system, since the old 1.2gb drive failed and this is the only drive i can use. The current bios version doesn't support drives larger than 8.4gb. Does anyone know if this will work or not, possibly causing an irrecoverable problem?
