I just bought a Asus A7V8X from newegg and I'm having a problem. After taking out my old motherboard and taking out the cpu from it, I started to put the cpu (a amd athlon 1.4ghz) in the socket a slot. I pulled up the lever and inserted the cpu. After I made sure it was in fine, i started to push the lever down but i couldnt get it to go, it seems forceful, and it only adds pressure to the cpu and doesnt stay down. I tried another 1.4ghz athlon on it and same thing resulted. The lever goes down fine without a cpu in the slot. I tried putting both of the cpus in my old board and they both fit fine and the lever came down easily. This is my first motherboard installation and im trying to be careful, but I dont know what im doing wrong.

I'd really appreciate any help

thanks

check your cpu real good for bent pins,i have same mobo and no trouble like that, turn the board over and tap on the socket ,make sure nothings, in one of the holes.
