Ok i got a problem with my a7v motherboard...
its a new motherboard that i just got like 2 days ago.
I can get into the bios and everything fine but my problem starts after the motherboard starts the "detecting " process...
it either will say something along the lines of (a)"cannot install ata100 bios because no drives detected" or it will say
(b)"Quantum motherboard
d1 not detected
d2 not detected
d3 not detected

IDE bus master enabled"

These are not the exact things the motherboard says but they are close... anyways after both of them the screen will start to beep and blink.

What am I doing wrong?

reponse (a) I get when i put my harddrive into the dma66 slot, and response (b) i get when i put into the dma100 slot

My hardrive is a Quantam dma66 20 gig
my parts i got on the comp when this is happening is:
-leadtek winfire gforce2gts 32mb
-900 mhz Athlon t-bird skt A
-128 mb pc133 ram

PLEASE HELP

Hi, I was wondering if/how you'd solved your problems. I recently got an A7V and I am having problems similar to yours... I think it has to do with the controllers. Any luck?
If you can, please email me at tfuruya@hmc.edu

Do you guys have the latest BIOS from Asus (1004) and check the ATA100 drivers also.

This corrected my problem that I was having with that board.

I have a Maxtor 15g 7200 in mine. What I did, was connect the hd to the primary ide first, get the system up and running; ie installing miniport, agp drivers etc. Then I downloaded the new promise ATA100 drivers from ASUS, installed them, shut down, connected drive to the ATA100 controller and set the bios to boot to the ATA controller. It detected the Maxtor and booted right up. I have my cdrom on the primary ide slot and cdrw on the secondary ide slot. Works like a champ.
