Hi there

I currently have a 3500+ Newcastle core, I bought them right when 939's came out, and sadly, it really is just a bad OC'er.. I can't get it past 2.5 because it runs too hot, even though I've reapplied the custom Hyper6 Heatsink along with AS5 numerous times, but I'm afraid maybe my first ABIT motherboard really screwed it up.. I don't even OC it at all anymore because it often fails Prime, and lately alot of my games have been jittering up even after RMA'ing everything else from my motherboard to my graphics and sound, so I am now CONVINCED it is my CPU

Also, I think I have a good chance of getting a better 3500+ core back (maybe a venice or something 😀)

The chip still works fine, and its only about 8 months old, but as I said, I took the heatsink off of it a long time ago (i still have it though)

So what is the process should I need to RMA? I can't tell them I had a custom heatsink, right? I should dissolve all the thermal grease with IPA 99% first, right, and tell them I have never oc'ed or replaced the heatsink, right?

Any other suggestions? I need help ASAP please, thanks in advance!!

you can't rma a cpu just because it doesn't overclock well. newcastles weren't meant for oc'ing, ever. and lying about the heatsink/as5 is a very unethical approach here in in the forums, which i vote to have you exiled for your sins.

Fraud is bad, mmmkay?

No.

That's not right, morally, legally, anything.

Be happy with what is a great CPU, OCed or not 🙂

How do you get that many posts and not realize you're going to get flamed for this thread.
You are basically asking someone to help you commit fraud. WTF is wrong with you?

He's an uber-n00b.

Kids these days

When you OC you lose the priveledge of being able to RMA a product.

You also set AMD back 1 more processor than they need.

How can you RMA something that works?? Are you stupid or something?

What do you get out of overclocking your processor anyway? A shorter lifespan and you get to boot into windows .003 seconds faster?

If you want a different processor, buy a new one. That's what any person who has a soul would do.
