need help with ami bios password on a really old 486 PC

ok the old HD failed and I've tried to enter the bios to change the parameters for another HD. This is my aunt's computer and she uses it only for typing. is there a universal password or something to discharge the cmos/bios battery. thanks

If you're really desperate, you might give this a look.

try removing the battery if all else fails. Take it out, then put it back in. You'll lose all other bios settings though.

Just take the battery out, wait a minute, put it back in, and reconfigure the BIOS.

the default pw on old ami bios's was "ami" if that doesnt work, jus tclear the cmos like the others suggested
