Need help with Airport Extreme on PC

To start things off, I know just about nothing as far as Apple/Mac hardware goes. That being said, I didnt expect installing an airport extreme router to replace an old DLink would be too tough. The DLink works just fine but a friend purchased a new AE and asked me to install if for them. I've hooked everything up as it should be on the AE, ethernet from the cable (comcast) modem to the AE and then 2 other ethernet cables from the AE to xbox's for live. I've installed the airport utility and went through the initial router setup but the led on the AE just flashes amber and the error the utility gives me is "Your airport device has an invalid IP address." I've tried messing with the settings and even resetting the router back to all defaults and going through it all again, but with the same end result. It's not a problem with the actual internet as it works fine with the DLink router and even straight from the cable modem to the computer. This is basically where I'm at right now and have run out of ideas. Sorry I cant give much more info at the moment as I'm at my house. I know I had the AE utility set to create a new wireless network, and DHCP to give out IP's automatically. In the end I still ended up with an Invalid IP address from the Utility. Any input is greatly appreciated, and if anyone needs some more info just ask, I'll be able to get it later on today.

If you installed the Bonjour thingy get rid of it or what ever else the utility installed on the network.
If needed configure the AirPort manually.

I'm 100% positive the network cables were in the right position, I tried it a few different times to make sure.

Could you possibly elaborate a little more on that. Thats what I'd like to do but im not quite sure how apple routers IP's work.

Could it be the Comcast modem still has the DLink's mac address mapped?
Try pulling the power plug on the Comcast modem for about 30 to 60 seconds and it should remap to the AE's mac address. I would also pull the power of the AE and bring everything back up in this sequence: Comcast modem then AE.
