Need help with a virus

My wife got a virus on her laptop yesterday and I can't seem to get rid of it. I restarted the laptop and after the system post it says

"chainloader /bootmgr

error 13 Invalid or unsupported executable format

Press any key to continue"

When I continue I get a screen with red back ground with a bunch of options called GRUB4DOS 0.4.4 and the optoisn are to start windows without a loader or with a SLIC loader and a bunch of different options

If I select the grub command line option and use the command quit it says

"GRUB was not booted from DOS or the backup copy of DOS at physical address 0x200000 is corrupt"

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

From the reference to a GRUB SLIC Loader I would guess that the laptop was purchased with a GRUB Loader that loads a unauthorized SLIC Table in memory for the BIOS so that it could activate an illegal version of Windows Vista or Windows Seven.

See this link for example: http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/7126-The-Official-Windows-7-Repository

They also have links to Windows Vista SLIC Loaders....

I hope I am wrong, but I think you were had.
