Here's the lyrics:

"Schism" - Tool

I know the pieces fit cuz I watched them fall away
Mildewed and smoldering. Fundamental differing.
Pure intention juxtaposed will set two lovers souls in motion
Disintegrating as it goes testing our communication
The light that fueled our fire then has burned a hole between us so
We cannot see to reach an end crippling our communication.

I know the pieces fit cuz I watched them tumble down
No fault, none to blame it doesn't mean I don't desire to
Point the finger, blame the other, watch the temple topple over.
To bring the pieces back together, rediscover communication

The poetry that comes from the squaring off between,
And the circling is worth it.
Finding beauty in the dissonance.

There was a time that the pieces fit, but I watched them fall away.
Mildewed and smoldering, strangled by our coveting
I've done the math enough to know the dangers of our second guessing
Doomed to crumble unless we grow, and strengthen our communication.

Cold silence has a tendency to atrophy any
Sense of compassion
Between supposed lovers

---------

I'm guessing...failed relationship?

Judith is not about religion in any way. It's about a woman named Judith, and most of the lyrics such as "Your christ" and "your God" are euphemisms for something else.

Someone posted about Schism a while back. Seach for "Schism video"

Taken from the FAQ at aperfectcircle.org.

What is _____ about?

...Judith?
Maynard says this, "It's a real person named Judith. She doesn't know about it.
And she never will. Just because of the nature of the song and what I'm speaking
about, she won't know... because she won't listen."
The religious references are not necessarily literal (I'm going to go out on a
limb and note my opinion- i believe very little of Maynard's lyrical work can be
classified as literal); the references to "your God" and "your Christ" could mean
the biblical God and Christ, but could also simply be a metaphor for someone
Judith has been wronged by, but still "worships" and forgives.

<< Hmmm.... >>

Thats what I was thinking :D

I guess it could be about blind faith still...blind faith in a person who does not deserve it

From looking at the lyrics it seems to be something about a relationship and how it broke apart from a lack of communication...being from him traveling so much, not having enough time for her or whatever...or about a relationship that is about to fall apart from a lack of communication.

EnragedPC,

A lot of people feel that Schism is basically about how the members of Tool fell away from each other. They didn't break up but just weren't clicking like they had in the past.

Hince why he says he knows the pieces fit and he watched them tumble down.

I was thinking that he might be singing about his parents, and maybe their failed relationship (if theirs indeed did fail).

I dunno.
