I'm trying to "help" my nephew with some of his math, and as the last problem they give this:

Find the pattern in these numbers:
1-8-81-1024

I can't figure it out, and it seems to be WAAAY out of place on this homework. The rest of the page was simple stuff that both he and I knew fairly well.

1 is one squared, 8 is 2 cubed, 81 is 3 to the forth, 1024 is 4 to the fifth.

Pattern?
y=234x^2 - 855.5x + 663
or even better (perfect)
y=134x^3 - 771x^2 + 1382x - 744
