I figure a lot of you here invest in stocks or know a lot...and this is a big project for school and looking for help...so here goes...

-Begin with $100,000
-5% interest on cash balances
-Charged 7% interest on debt
-Only trade stocks on ASE, NASDAQ, NYSE
-All buy orders must be a minimum of a 100 shares and priced at $5 or more
-Sell orders can be for less than a hundred shares
-Orders can be placed 24/7

Sectors I can invest into:
Basic Materials
Consumers (Cyclical)
Consumers (Non-Cyclical)
Energy
Financial
Health Care
Technology
Telecommunications
Industrial
Utilities

What is required
- 6 companies
- 4 diff sectores

I am just checking to see if anyone can give any tips on what stocks I should make my way towards investing into. Thanks.

look at GRIC, it jumps a LOT. a short term investment in it could really pay big. and AMD/ATYT are always good :)

Be in and out with quick profit targets and close stop losses. FOMC has been tightening for months now, and just recently began to advise the public of the "new" change in stance with the recent warning that they will not lower rates any more (duh), and may even raise them soon. Don't look to the market to tank too much, Uncle Al (being the political person he is) ain't gonna sink a current boss in an election year, but expect the market to swoon soon after the Novemember elections.

To really impress your class, get a chart of M1, M2 and M3 from about 1940 to current. There will be amazement aplenty.
