Well heres the story, guy brings in a sony grx-550 with a bad hard drive, clicking, banging, grinding... replace thre HDD no biggie, so we order the new drive and today it arrives. I cant for the life of me figure out how to get to the old drive though, and i cant find any kind of documentation as to how to do it either.

The drive is on the right hand side just above where the battery would go, (im guessing, this is where the sound was coming from and by looking at the layout on the bottom of the case, also the most logical place for the drive to be) Theres a plastic cover that flips up that covers the batter that comes off real easy and another peice of plastic that has the same type of design, and even "pull pads" for grip. there was also a screw holding this peice in place along with a lock/unlock switch that by the looks of things dosnt lock or unlock anything.

If someone could be kind enough to point me to some diagrams or other literature that would be exellent, or if anyone has first hand experience with replacing the drive on one of these that would be even better.

For the record, i am a full time tech and can figure most things out on my own, or find the liturature to help me out. Im completly lost on this one though.

well i guess the question should be are there any techs left at anandtech...... bump in hopes of someone with even a little idea will post.

bump again.... this is rediculas... 8 replys to some jackass overclocking his video card but not a damn thing for some REAL tech support...

alright no thanks to anyone here, i finnally figure it out... the little peice with the lock and unlock wasnt fully unlocking, this is why it felt like i would break it if i tried any harder, again... no thanks to anyone here.. and you call yourselves techs... not even an idea was thrown out........ i think ill have to stick to just reading the articals then getting any kind of help in the future...
