alright guys, basically, I wanna make some sort of mechanism that moves something about 3 - 4 inches.

the easiest thing I can think of is a small linear actuator, but I can't find anything smaller than 6 inches, pretty expensive too.

next option is a little servo motor with a link. problem is I gotta buy a controller and driver. and I gotta program it.

anyone with a better idea? links?

tks

Maybe a hydraulic arm? I made one of those in 7th grade in my shop class. It was faily easy to make.

more details please, that's sounds pretty cool.

It's basically a base (har har) with a wooden, jointed arm attached to it. There is a column off to the left on mine that has 4 or so syringes on it. They use tubing to attach to the other syringes which operate the, "elbow," "wrist," "hand," and side to side movement. If I can find the stupid thing I can take some crappy ass res pics for you with my sweet free web cam. 🙂

tks for the help. so do you have to actually push on the sucker or can this be controlled electronically.

The original design used syringes full of water to operate everything. I suppose you could replace it with some electrical parts instead. 😕
