Need to replace an old desktop. I am new to this site. I have no experience in building a computer. I am not a gamer but, I want a setup that would last me for many years. This desktop would be used for office work, web surfing, multi media, video editing and multiple application running simultaneously. I have checked out dell, hp, polywell, ibuypower, cyberpc and mwave.
Following please find the list of the components that I picked from mwave.com.
If you have any suggestions regarding where to purchase or the part list please let me know. All advise and recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

For a 1st time, I'd say you did pretty well overall.

Basic suggestions: (using newegg as reference)
I'd probably take this Corsair PSU over the Antec.

I'd also take a 7600GT over the 7600GS. Either will be fine for non-gaming, but the GT is better.

Also, there's no way you need PC2-8000 RAM. I'd take this Patriot which has a great price after rebate.

I think the AS5 might aid in cooling better than the Aluminia, but it's a really minor point.

Do you really need the sound card? Why not integrated over it?
Also, make sure you want the Raptor before spending the money for it.

"Also, make sure you want the Raptor before spending the money for it" -lol

personally, don't get the raptor, it's a rip off compared to getting a bigger drive if you're not an enthusiast. I read "I just want a computer that will last me."

otherwise it's like trying something new. so have fun.

I think you did a pretty good job. I would also change out the PSU and get a Seasonic or Corsair. I like your HD setup too. I would keep the Raptor, use that for your OS and important apps, and everything else over to your Seagate.

Also buy the parts from Newegg and build it yourself.....
