Need help with a MPEG-4 file

A friend sent me a video file that says it is MPEG-4 format. It doesn't run at all under Windows Media Player or Winamp. Quicktime runs it but the picture is distorted. Roxio Cineplayer will play it for about a minute or so and then it crashes. Any ideas on how to play this or a player that might play it?

If you like to play it on any software, download the needed codecs for that file type.
I would suggest you to download Combined Community Codec Pack or CCCP.
After you installed it, it will play on almost all media player available.
