need help with a MATSHITA CW-7503-B 8x SCSI burner

I just got a Matshita CW-7503-B SCSI burner, it's old, but i don't have a burner. I got an Adaptec SCSI card so i could use this, i plugged everything in...and when i boot up it says "13h device not found" then "BIOS not installed" it then continues to boot up, but freezes at that black screen with the flashing dash, just before windows loads. I am completely lost...Is there something wrong with my jumpers? are they on wrong? this is my first scsi piece of equipment. thanks for ANY info.
