need help with a digital cablebox

well, cable company said we have to upgrade our analog box to a digital one, which was fine by me because they did it at no charge. So UPS delivers it to the door, i hook it up and everything, and all a get on the front of the box is "h" followed by random, constantly changing numbers. the security card is in, everything is connected correctly (this im positive of) but the box just sits there with these numbers going and you cant turn it on or anything. If anyone can give me some help that would be awesome, i REALLY dont want to call the friggin cable company over this.

reinsert the security card. The power is working so try cleaning the card or something and make sure you insert it properly...Why not call the cable company for over the phone tech support???

they never do over the phone stuff, its always "we'll send a truck out at the next most convienient time". and yes, i've tried cleaning it and reinserting it 3 or 4 times and still nothing
