My Ds3 is coming in friday and i amreplacing my old asrock board and i am think, might as well reaplce the cooling too since i need to reapply thermal paste anyway. What is a good choice? ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 seem good but i don;t really like the whole 775 socket push down the plastic scheme. is there any other choice?

I am using the Freezer pro 7 it fits well and using artic silver 5 CPU temps under load Folding GROMACS at 100% 29-30c. My fan is controled by the MoBo an the normal speed reported is 650 RPM and is very quiet.

I personally use the Scythe Infinity, but as Hal0 said it is big and heavy, but it keeps me at 25ºC idle / 34ºC load.

Xellos2099: I think the correct method is corners, eg. top right, bottom left, top left, bottom right.

on my C2D E6700 i use zalman CNPS9700

What is this cooler? I checked on Newegg and came up empty.

I'm investigating cooling options right now. I'm planning my system and expect to go with a mildly O/C'd E6400 (FSB maybe 333 depending on what RAM I end up with). I'm not sure I even need anything other than stock cooling but I'm reseaching other options nevertheless

I would think that if you don't plan to overclock that the stock cooler would be sufficient. I would bet that the stock cooler probably handles some overclocking but not anything extreme but I am not speaking from experience only from what I've read in my research.

The Freezer pro 7 works great with my O/C 3.0GHz from a E6400 and I was just folding and decoding video at the same time 32c at the most, with ambient air temp 65f.

I was considering the AC7 if I think I need one. I wasn't planning on going up to 3GHz though, I'm concerned about lifetime of the parts as well.

I was thinking more like 333 Mhz on the FSB (2.664 GHz)

I am going w/ the scythe mine. Not as big or heavy, or loud as the infinity (but at tad warmer). Plus, the way the fan setup, it should blow across the NB heatsink.

are you going to be OCing or not? The Tuniq Tower 120 is now available in some places. I'd get that :)

I love my WC setup though. Makes my HDD sound so loud :)
